If you’ve seen the musical “The Producers” you’ll know that Leo Bloom in the song “I Wanna Be a Producer” sings about turning in his accountant’s tools in order to become a Broadway producer.

Although 95-year-old Al Zimbler hadn’t yet headed to Broadway, he had been actively pursuing a comedy career since retiring from his CPA practice.

He had taken improv and comedy writing classes in Chicago and Los Angeles, and he had taught senior improv in Chicago and on cruise ships.

As of the end of 2015 Al had written 1,200 humorous short stories, many of which appear in his published humor books. Also, as a hobby for the last 10 years, he has been writing his own humor captions for New Yorker cartoons, and he now has over 5,000 cartoon captions.
